Dynjandi Natural Monument is located in Arnarfjörður by road 60 (Vestfjarðavegur), about 30 km north of the Vatnsfjörður Nature Reserve and about 9 km from the mouth of the Dýrafjörður Tunnel. From the main road (60), road 621 (Dynjandavegur) runs about 700 meters to the parking lot. From Dynjandi, you can drive west, via Mosdalsvegur road, ending at Laugaból farm. The nearest ferry port is at Brjánslækur and the nearest airport is in Ísafjörður.
At Dynjandi, there are water toilets that are open year round and parking spaces for smaller cars, motorhomes/sprinters, and buses, as well as designated parking for the disabled. At the shore, there is a turning point for buses. Overnight stays are not permitted.
A service fee is charged by the parking lot, in accordance with a fee schedule. Current facilities are temporary and equipment for automated fee collection will be installed in late summar 2024.
In the service area you‘ll find picnic tables and charging facilities with a cooking area. A walking path runs from the parking lot along the Dynjandisá river to the Dynjandi waterfall, and the walk takes about 15 minutes. The lowest part of the path is paved and accessible to the disabled up to Hrísvaðsfoss waterfall, after which there is a natural path that is rocky and uneven in places. There are viewing platforms at two of the waterfalls. There is no waste collection at Dynjandi, and overnight stays are not permitted there.
In the summer, park rangers work within the nature reserve. Their role is to ensure that provisions of nature conservation laws, protection plans, and other government regulations are followed, to provide information and education to visitors about the nature and history of the areas, and to handle daily operations and maintenance.
